Trans’Henson in the Bay of Somme…

More than 200 riders, 15 teams and 100 horses in freedom, rushing in full light on the grand piano of the Bay to play an ode to life in major mode …
The Trans’Henson is majestic, beautiful as the harmony of the first mornings of the world.
The riders and the public vibrate in unison with the horse Henson in its territory of sky and sand.
Happiness, that day, resides in the Bay Somme …

Welcome to the Henson Land !

On behalf of the Association of Riders of the Bays of the Somme and Authie, organizer of the event and the Equestrian Space Henson-Marquenterre, the host structure, we are pleased to announce the 29th edition of the :

On October 20th, will be held the 29th edition of the transhumance of Henson horses in the Bay of Somme: the big autumn rendezvous of Picardy with its heritage living in the Baie de Somme. A free event organized by the Association of Riders of the Bays of the Somme and Authie, with the assistance of the Henson Equestrian Centers and the Henson Horse Association, to meet more than 250 Henson horses and their riders, under the magic skies of the Bay of Somme.

The first transhumance of the Henson horses took place in the fall of 1990, when the Henson horses arrived at the Domaine du Marquenterre. Event at the time very private, to bring back to the farm (some) horses (mares and foals) who had spent the summer in the polders of the Ornithological Park of Marquenterre, not passing by the shortest way, but on the contrary, by making the grand tour by the northern tip of the Bay of Somme.

Today, the course has not changed, but in the meantime, the Henson horses were officially recognized in 2003 (44th French equine race and today appearing among the 9 breeds of “horses of territory”), near 1200 Henson horses were born in Baie de Somme and elsewhere in France and the creation in 1994 of the National Nature Reserve of the Bay of Somme has given full scope to the protection of this natural heritage that serves as a haven every day.

Great and beautiful adventure that the Trans’Henson 2019 will symbolize again this year for all the riders and for their public who comes to find them for this big meeting of the autumn in Picardie.
