The Henson Equestrian Centers are launching experiential horseback journeys in the Bay of Somme and its forecountry!
For several years, we felt that we had to go further than a simple ride, an equestrian lunch, a bivouac or even a two-day hike in Marquenterre.
We knew that the real experience began beyond that: three, four, five days on horseback. Because it doesn’t take more than a day to disconnect… and let the doors to a forgotten world open.
A world with immemorial footsteps, once traveled on foot, on horseback or in carriages. A world before the motor, one that all generations knew until the dawn of the 20th century.
From performance… to harmony
Horseback riding is first and foremost a quest for performance: reliving what our ancestors experienced, sometimes braving the weather, difficult terrain, and unexpected detours. But also sharing their emotions: the warmth of a wood fire under a starry sky, the simplicity of a meal with fellow travelers.
Then something clicked. In this increasingly fast-paced, demanding, and often hectic world, we all need something else: harmony.
Performance remains vital, but without harmony it becomes destructive. Recharging our batteries and rediscovering natural rhythms is essential for maintaining our health and balance.
A transformative experience
It is from this awareness that the idea of experiential horseback journeys in the Bay of Somme and its forecountry was born.
A 20 to 30 km journey per day, on horseback, on foot or in a carriage for non-riders. An adventure where effort is combined with rejuvenation, where freedom, complicity with your horse, authenticity and encounters unite to offer much more than a journey: a suspended time, rich in emotions and discoveries.
